Today's kids...what a shallow mess.
Is it all visual over sound anymore
I posted youtube links because that's a pretty easy way for people to listen to the songs. If I knew a good site that just had the audio that would suffice. And why do I put the video link and don't put the name of the songs? Well, because I want to surprise people..
Today's kids...what a shallow mess.
This must be the grandy-daddy of all avuncular, self-righteous remarks ever made. I don't know your definition of kid but I suppose my age makes not elligible for that status... And on what aspect were I shallow? And what makes you think that kids these days are shallow mess as to contrasting with the deep philosophers and thinkers your generation had? And what's your generation while I'm at it. And how many kids do you know in order to make that sweeping generalisation? Bear in mind that we are from different countries so I have to congratulate you on your obvious general knowledge to ascert that I'm as shallow as the kids you know over there. And are all kids from all over the world a shallow mess or is it just me and the ones you know? Or is it just the ones that post youtube links?
Thanks in advance.

I have to say that I never visit any of these you tube clips. If I want to see one I'll go and find it. What a world today - people list what they listen to and they note video clips. Is it all visual over sound anymore?

That's all.
I don't require a video to enjoy music, but I often look up (and listen to) songs on YouTube simply because so many are available on there.
That said, I rarely click on people's other people's YouTube links either.

Well thank you, I try, but usually fail, to make the top of a list.
The attacking "shallow" word was a generalization to those who relentlessly point to video clips when appreciating music. I think that one can find greater enjoyment from a song without having to view some performance on video. Once in a while for posterity - fine. I'll look at some Miles or King Crimson or Coltrane for historical entertainment and perspective now and then. But to really appreciate the sounds, I have to listen.
Lets see, what's next? Oh yeah, I was born in 1955.
I have 3 now adult kids so i get some perspective. Most whom I work with aren't kids.
I don't know you so I'll strike you from the shallow universe for now.
My pet peeve, as it were, are some folks who ALWAYS point to videos for their musical appreciation.
My next attacks will be against cell phones and eating popcorn in theaters and internet shorthand, so be warned.
Now to get back to something substantial - fixing my fantasy baseball and football teams.
I'm 53, going on 65, going on 12.

I'm off to send text messages to my droogs in a crowded movie theater, while munchy-wunching on fistfulls of popcorn. 😉

Youtube links are a convenient way to show the music I'm talking about. I thought I made that clear on my previous post. The point wasn't (in this case in special): Hey guys and girls look at this crazy videos but Hey guys and girls listen to this groovy songs on a slow saturday. I don't think I can make it anymore explicit than this...
Well I was born in 1982 so am a kid by your standards? 😕 And is being a kid just an age thing? Or something else?...
I don't know you so I'll strike you from the shallow universe for now.
Whoopdedoo!

My pet peeve is people that infer without sufficient information or without taking into account all the information they have.
Now I'll get back to something substantial: The Road to Reality by Roger Penrose and maybe Mathematical Physics by Eugene Butkov 😵

As for the argument afterwards, well, # video killed the radio star#
BUT, Give me an easily accessible place to just listen to just about anything at a click of a mouse and, well, i won't bother as youtube does the same, just close your eyes and tap your feet.
