This thread reminds me of Catwoman. All hype and no content.

I give a rec when a post ...

a) gets its point across with style, and
b) when I agree with it.

But, hey, since recs grow on trees, lets just throw them about so they can become totally meaningless.

Good point, worth a rec.

Nice try Gatecrasher, but gatecrashing this thread hasn't got you any recs... (so far) 😛😛😛

By the way, I agree with you completely about what gains a rec.

Cheers,
Richard.

1 EDIT: Oops, you just got a rec about 30 seconds after I posted this...

I usually give people a rec, if it makes me laugh, if i agree with it, or it has some meaning to it.

Giving a rec will put the post into the "recommended" list, so I usually give a rec if I think others would be interested in reading it.

I also tend to favor posts that are clear, concise, and hit the nail on the head.

Oops! I accidentally just pressed the "Alert Moderators" button...I meant to hit the "Reply & Quote" :o

I feel stupid, lol.

Anyway, I agree with you. When it makes me have a good laugh, or I agree with it, or if it's something of substance, then I'll rec it 😛

Watch them buttons!

Yup... russ needs a text message for alerts... and the ability to say 'oops'.

Lots of people do that.

When you hit "Alert Moderator", a screen should come up saying "Did you mean to do that?" Then if you press yes, the alert goes through. If you say no, then nothing happens and you don't have to feel stupid 🙂

Good Idea!
As one of the moderators maybe you should send him a PM suggesting it.

I guess the idea would be when someone clicks "alert moderator", a text box pops up and asks why you want to alert the post. You would then have the chance to write a brief explanation. At the bottom of the box you would have the option to 'send' or 'cancel'.

Yeah, that's basically what I said 😛

I like my idea better, though. Just a simple Yes or No, because if you really want to alert a mod about a post, when the mod gets to that post they will (hopefully) see why you alerted them (hence, no need to type out the whole story)

I have no idea why Russ and Chismo have not done this yet.... we both know he knows we all want this feature!

Gah!
