During a game of chess, on my go, an opponents piece was not shown on my screen, so I took a knight with my queen, unkown to me it was covered by a rook, which was invisible before I moved the queen, I think due to this glitch that we should call the game a draw. Have you ever encountered any problems like this? What do you think?
Originally posted by kill kingI have a really old comp , it's very slow . On another site I used to play on this happened to me several times . Sometimes it was because it took a very long time to load a game , so all of the pieces had not shown up . So if I would move quickly I'd not see a guarded piece . The other reason was peculiar . It seemed sometimes when working from my "my games" list , my computer would call up the game , but a cached version of it - I mean that game , but sometimes 3-4 moves prior to where the game was really at . If the new move was legal , it would make that current move even though the board showed the game at a different state . The new board would come up on the screen with a very different look , but the move would 'take' . I've yet to have that problem on this site . Try hitting refresh often (before moving)if you think something like that may be happening .
