It's a nice idea but I doubt it'll ever be as popular as the hype suggested.

There's not enough gadgets or addons for it so currently it's just yet another way of chatting online with the added option of sharing files and maps.

At this stage in it's development, probably not. I don't think invitees get the option to invite other people so it would be hard to build up a contact list.
