Handheld Chess computers ... anyone use?

General

I'm looking to purchase a handheld chess game but it seems no one makes them any more and I haven't a phone that can use apps (still old tech). Does anyone have any links where I can get a good challenging chess computer?

Try google. I just did and got several hits. "electronic handheld chess game" is all you have to type in. Use the same search string on ebay and see what comes up.

yeah I did all that, but most of them are for children 7+ or machines running on 8bit. God my phone is faster despite being old throw away type

I went through this hankering a while back for old board games I used to play as a child and I went to ebay and found several for sale there. I'm sure with a little patience, you could probably uncover a few sales of handheld chess games.

thank you to you for your assistance..... I see that most are second hand and over $300 is price .... others are unavailable. Looks like I need to save some of my pension and buy an apple ipod and try their apps.

I used to to have 'Pocket Chess' on a palm. Absolutely ideal if you can get a used one that still works.

on every search they are either sold, discontinued or just plain crap. Start saving my boy, start saving....ipod looks the option for travel-ability and apps

I have one of those that helps me with major life decisions when the battery is dead on my Ouiji Board.

I bought my kid an acer tablet for under a hundred bucks (Android operating system). Chess apps run on it but must be manually installed.
