I can see Mount Hood for nearly my entire hour commute to work and I know they are up there. And their families and the rescue parties are broken hearted.
Hi Frank,
Very sad about the climbers....can't even imagine. I wish they could have found them.
Very sad!
:'(
For some reason this tragedy really crept into my heart.

It's way too late for that.
They are gone.
They were all relatively young and stong guys, knew what they were doing.
It should not have happend this way.
It is hard to take.
Grimness...

Grimness...
I thought the first sunny day we had, we were going to see them pop their heads out and get picked up by the chopper...but it didn't happen.
And it didn't happen the next few sunny days.
Obviously something tragic happened.
I wish they would have stayed up there in the snow cave with the other guy. They could have all been alive right now. They must not have known the severity of the storn they were trying to descend in.
Originally posted by mlpriorI don't know if staying up there would have saved them after hearing the latest news. It was just a truely terrible time for the storm to hit. It sounds like they were under prepared for such an event. Kind of a rogue storm. It was a very unusual storm for our area. It is not often we get snow let alone freezing rain. And on Mount Hood it is magnified ten fold. They were subject to 100 MPH winds in below freezing weather. Just the most horrible luck...

Are you in Oregon somewhere?
