So basicly the guy who's post calling me a phycho idiot and has 5 recommendations got banned before. Interesting, I never got banned, that says a lot. Darvley, care to explain this? Did you just round buddies up to promote your silly posts? I don't stoop that low.
What are you getting at?

I admit I at times disrupt, but I don't go through the lenghts of abusing and breaking the rules like you, and a few of your friends, do. I'm quite careful not to break them, you can argue I'm exploiting loopholes, but it's all legal. You on the other hand, have routinely broken the rules and have been banned before perhabs 2 times, and now zach confessed accidently to breaking a rule in one of my threads and likely may deal with a short ban, and you guys go out and make posts like this, seems a tad confusing and baseless. . .
i don't understand this statement. In what way am I suspicious?
Originally posted by mateulosePlease Mateuloser... I break rules all the time, never mind in this forum. But to call that "suspicious" is lame. You offend people with hatemongering, to say that's not abusive or disruptive is a complete joke - like your life. The fact that you called me helpless is laughable. I can actually help myself and get along just fine, not like you from what I read in your profile and from your previous whinings. You pitiful gob.

Originally posted by elvendreamgirlPardon me, sweetheart, and no offense intended towards you as I really like you, but I notice that you seem "passive" and "friendly?" towards some of these 'enlightened, anti-American/pro-Hamas' hateful jerks from Canada and Europe who gloat over 3000 dead Americans, and who like to compare YOUR country and its citizens to Ghengis Kahn, and who tell YOU, indirectly, that YOU are a stupid American, and that YOUR country should be destroyed and obliterated as payment for retaliating against a declaration of war by Al-Qaeda...sorry, I can't 'yuck it up' with these 'intellectuals' as you do, and that's admirable of you, but I come from different stock obviously so I can't 'shuck and jive', as we say in Georgia, with people that don't like me....
chancre, that is really uncalled for, don't you think?
Originally posted by mateuloseI also don't understand this statement.
Well, I've been here longer then you, never got banned, you have, and you have a pile of recs. Your behaviour seems a tad suspicious to me.
Let's analyze it.
Well, I've been here longer then you
??????Darvlay joined on 5th of January, you joined on the 26th of August, seems that is Darvlay the one who has been there longer than you.
never got banned, you have
Be sure that if you continue in this way you surely try the flavor.
People get banned for many reasons, not only for cussing.
and you have a pile of recs
This means nothing,a guy who had 200+ recs got banned permanently for his behaviour in forums.
I also have been banned for three days but have many recs.
Number of recs mean nothing.
Your behaviour seems a tad suspicious to me
I don't understand how Darvlay behaviour is suspicious.
Maybe irritating at times ,but suspicious?????
Do you believe he has some secret plot?
Originally posted by PhlabibitI found RHP yesterday after seeing it mentioned in a chatroom at another chess website where I have been a member for several years. In less than 24 hours, I decided to "pony up" the subscription fee here.
Actually, things have been better at RHP. Of late people seem to test every aspect of what they can get away with, driving 'thin skin' people away. That was fun for a bit.
Next is cussing every chance you get to see how far you can push that, or talking about sex to see how much you can get away with. That was fun for a while.
Now we are at a stage where we all tell each other why we hate each other so much, and who is wrong about what.
This other website, www.caissa.com, has been in existence since 1995. It has many features that are better than those found here, and many that are worse. One of the most-unique aspects of it--and one that kept me coming back year after year--was its Bulletin Boards. Caissa's BBs were the driving force of that chess community for a very long time. Within them, one could find all of the religious and political "debates" I'm certain are taking place here.
Every phase of Forum "development" described above took place at Caissa before RHP even existed. The BBs at Caissa were a madhouse in their heyday--and they could be extremely entertaining! When the same combatants hack at each other week after week and year after year, however, things can get very personal...and very bleak for the entire community.
If rule-breaking posters here are being warned and booted on a regular basis, you should be happy about it. Caissa lacked stewardship when it needed it the most, and it eventually drove away both the evil targets of well-intentioned abuse and those who had good reasons for targeting them. Gradually, Caissa has been dying for a few years now. Caissa once had over 3000 live games played per day, and now it's only half that number. If you don't have something else worth doing between games (or, here, between moves!), what's to keep people from straying?
There is something to be said for allowing debates to run their natural course...no one would be interested in a sterile Forum! Good debates and long-standing personality conflicts in the Forums are as good as money in the bank for the developers of the site--it keeps people coming back. And yet...it can become too much to bear!
Why am I bothering to talk about another chess website here? Well, the BBs at Caissa have seen many threads like this one over the years...but now this topic doesn't even pop up much at all. In fact, some of the people who frequented the BBs there are now members *here*.
What I'm getting at is this: The evolution of a website's Forums should be monitored closely, as the success or failure of the site is at stake. I can already see that these Forums are a selling-point for RHP, and everyone who writes in them is selling the site whether they intend to or not. Monitoring the Forums is as much a responsibility of the administrators as it is the participants. Administrators need to respond to rules violations in a timely fashion. Even better, though, is to have a community of individuals who each understand their small-but-important place in the group, and who treat each other respectfully as they subtly gouge out each other's eyes. ;-)
Anyone interested in seeing the highlights of another chess website's BBs over the last several years should visit the URL below, as we once had one devout member who archived all of the best quotes from the BBs on his personal web page there:
