"The "clinking" of glasses originated in the medieval days when wine was often spiked with poison as the sediment concealed it quite well. If a host wanted to prove that the wine wasn't poisoned, he would pour part of the guest's wine into his glass and drink it first."
If the guest trusted his host he would just clink glasses when the host offered his glass for a sample. Hence the clinking of glasses has become a sign of trust, honesty and toast to good health."
And I always assumed it was to show-off the cheerful ringing quality of your crystal glasses! π²

Why when people have a drink and cheer each other, they do like your avatar shows.. *clink* *clink*...?
Shall I say or you wanna guess? π
Because when someone has a drink;
1, they see the glass - sight
2, they hold their drink - touch
3, they smell the drink - smell
4, they drink - taste
But they never hear it (unless when its poured, etc but at that moment, all the other senses are at work&hellipπ
So.. Chi-Chink for one's own satisfaction.. all senses fulfilled.
All together, Now.. Cheers!

Makes my little wino heart quiver every time I hear those sounds. π
