I think the game is a disease. We are all in one giant cyber-chess leper colony. The darker your star is the worse the disease is spreading on you. When your star starts to rotate, time to call a priest....

Well if you get bored you can at least see a baseball game all year long. Some people have all the luck.:'(

I almost left back when Zach was making several accounts, and I got a feeling RHP wasn't doing anything about it.

I even flamed Russ pretty good, I am glad he doesn't seem mad about that anymore.

He did everything he could to fix the problems, I was happy, and am still here today.

I stay for the friends I have and the friends I make every day. I could play chess anywhere, so it is not the chess.

There is a great group of players here...you can play chess at many sites...I have tried several...this site is by far the best...it is the people that make it so...I think it starts with Russ, who does an outstanding job...and there is a core group of players who are here just about every day...I have favorite players that I enjoy playing...there are some that I look forward to hearing from in the Forums...I like to watch the tournaments progress,,,really enjoy the Clans and my clan mates...so for me it is definitely the people. -- "boomer"

Not long ago I did consider leaving...but it was easy to decide against it. I dunno, I just enjoy going on here and playing chess.

Ok, maybe I'm on slightly less, but I still have the time to come on the site ^_^

The people are great here (save Imaertin, who plainly lied to me when accepting a clan challenge - Clan Leaders BEWARE of the Gutenberg Clan as their clan leader cheats and lies). But people like him wouldn't put me off as there are bound to be some ******* like him amongst so many great people.

I'm a fairly new subscriber but have already played some magnificant matches.

Evidence ???

Check this game out... I've played that against a very good friend of mine, Jarno (aka Pyrrho)

Game 427284

This is one of my favourite games as it teaches, that no matter how great you 'material' advantage might look, you still have to win it.

Am looking forward to playing each of you at least once throughout the next year ...

All the best,

The Slow Pawn

I get tired of it after a while and want a break from chess. About once a year I'll take about three months off and play no games. But I always come back. Being a clan leader complicates that process, though.

I love to play and have to say that this site is the best I have found of it's kind. The look and feel are almost perfect and when there is something you'd like improved you can voice it and debate it and get a reaction from the people who run it almost immediately.

The people who play here are of a good standard and, by and large, good humour, and the clans and tournament games are a great extra feature.

All this and it costs just over a tenner a year to join!?!

I have never really thought about leaving. I like the format and the fact that Russ and Chris seem to care a lot about the site. I've also been pretty lucky in not running into abusive crackpots here. I think Russ and Chris are pretty good at dealing with them and attracting and keeping the "right" kind of people. They keep coming up with new ideas and looks to keep the site interesting and evolving.

I have thought about quitting all my games and staring afresh a couple of times when I have too many on the go and I am not enjoying them. That said I have never thought about actually leaving here. What would I do with those extra 2 hours a day I would suddenly have?
