Okay guys,

Another day, another frustrating computer problem. I have just bought another 1394 (firewire) Lace d2 extreme HDD. I have connected that to my laptop (and I already run a d2 HDD) into my dual card 1394 PCMCIA card ... Now the problem is ...

The system recognises the harddrive (I even hear the XP-Beep everytime I switch it on or off).
The Device Manager recognises the HDD and sais that the device is working properly

BUT

I can't see the frigging thing ... Any ideas, anyone, pleeeeaase ???

Thanks a lot

Boris

You have to format and partition the thing first before you can see it. Had the same 'problem' with my IDE HDD. PowerQuest Partition Magic is a good program to use, though Windows can probably do it itself (not sure).

Err, you probably bought 250000000000 bytes, which is 250GB officially. Only, Windows counts 1024^3 bytes per GB (also known as a GibiByte or GiB, cmp MebiByte and KibiByte), so it will only display 233 GB. If all is well, you HD should have a notice that there are 250*1000^3 bytes in it.

Not to worry, once that is full, I just buy a new one ;-)
