Does anybody know how to get molten (and now dried) plastic off a Ceran cooktop of a cooker without destroying it? Actually, without leaving any marks?
"How on earth would you get plastic on that?", I hear you ask? Well, since you're gonna be nice enough to help me fix it before my parents come home, I'll tell you.

I was home sick today. Since I became hungry, I decided to cook some noodles, so on goes the first plate of the cooker. Then, while the water was boiling, I decided a sauce wouldn't be bad, so on goes the second plate (which is nearer to the front than the other one). Since the pot on the sauce-plate was in the way, it took it off the plate so I could put the noodles in the water. And then, what did I do? Yep, I put the half-empty bag of noodles on the hot plate and turned around to get some cheese out of the fridge. When I turned back around, the plastic was stuck to the plate, and it didn't smell very pleasant either.
See Paulie, that's the reason I avoid cooking....

Please, someone, help me-my mom will kill me if she sees it!!!

Turn the heat back on. Go outside. Tip the house on its side; the plastic will run off. Probably best to glue anything that might slide to whichever wall will be on the ground when you tip the house.

Are they well insured ? You could just torch the place . The massive fire will distroy all evidence of the accident with the stove .

I know you were joking, but a teen actually did just that.

It was a year or two back, in Ohio. His parents were divorced and he was at his dad's house - dad was away on business - and he had a huge party that got out of control. Apparently some holes got knocked in the walls.

The kids solution - burn the place down so dad wouldn't find out!

Have you tried nail polish remover? Acetone is a fairly good solvent, which might loosen the plastic. Makes sure it's cool first!

Don't Panic!

Just erect a Somebody Else's Problem field around the cooker.

Now I'm just a simple walrus lawyer, but I don't think you should be telling kids to burn down their houses. I mean, all that polution getting up into the atmosphere can't be good.

Leave it to Dr. Bowmann!!! Yes, someone else's problem! Yes. A field, sort of a "force field".

"If any sugar or food containing sugar (preserves, ketchup, tomato sauce, etc.), a plastic item or kitchen foil accidentally melts on the hot surface of your smoothtop, remove the molten material IMMEDIATELY with a metal razor scraper (it will not damage the decorated cooking surface) while the cooking surface is still hot to avoid the risk of damage to the CERAN® surface. For your safety please wear a mitt potholder while cleaning the hot cooking surface."

from a website on cookers. from this i assume that all you need to do it to re-heat the cooker and then scrape it off.

thankfully, my mom was not mad. She simply got a razor and scraped the stuff off. Luckily, I had been smart enough to do the dishwasher, so she was pleased with me before I told her...
anyway, all's well now. Thanks for your help 😉
