Crap. Here's two examples:
1. East Timor was ready to become independent with its first democratic election. Australia feared pre-election violence and asked for help from America, who had a warship nearby at the time. America refused and many East Timorese died (my friend's mother died there during an accident while helping a short time later).

STANG, I GIVE YOU CREDIT FOR YOUR YOUTHFUL IDEALISM AND DESIRE TO CHANGE THE WORLD FOR THE BETTER. HOWEVER, YOU NEED TO ADOPT A CRITICAL STANCE TOWARD THAT SOCIALIST PAP SOMEONE IS FEEDING YOU. THESE PEOPLE ARE TRADITIONALLY ANTI-USA BECAUSE THE USA IS THE NATURAL ENEMY OF THEIR BELOVED COMMUNISM, WHICH IS NO LONGER A MAJOR PLAYER ON THE WORLD POLITICAL SCENE. AS HAS ALREADY BEEN POINTED OUT IN THIS THREAD, THERE ARE MANY MUCH WORSE PEOPLE THAN BUSH IN POSITIONS OF POWER THAT YOU COULD WORK TO REMOVE (PROBABLY WITHOUT MUCH EFFECT). SADDAM (FORMERLY), FOR EXAMPLE, OR SLORC IN BURMA, OR MUGABE IN ZIMBABWE. AMNESTY IS A GOOD SOURCE OF INFORMATION ABOUT THIS KIND OF STUFF. UNFORTUNATELY IT SEEMS TO BE FULL OF THE KIND OF PEOPLE WHO ARE HAPPY TO ADOPT AN UNQUESTIONING ANTI-USA STANCE ON POLITICAL ISSUES, SO PERHAPS THEY WILL JUST CLOUD YOUR MIND EVEN FURTHER.
PS: DO YOU REALLY THINK THIS KIND OF STUFF IS GOING TO HAVE ANY EFFECT WHATSOEVER? THE AMERICAN PEOPLE VOTED BUSH IN FOR A SECOND TERM LESS THAN A YEAR AGO YOU KNOW.
