Alright people, here's the dealio. I'm writing a novel of which I've finished two and a half chapters, and I'm relatively pleased with it at the moment. I've been getting feedback from friends but what I really want is opinions from people who don't know me.

So, someone has come up with the ingenious plan of sticking it onto the world wide web. This is where you guys come in. I'd like a recommendation on a free webspace service.

Requirements:
-Not a lot of actual space is needed, just enough for quite a bit of text and the occasional small picture or header. Only basic formatting functions are needed.
-Preferably with its own editing software, so I can edit the site while online. I don't have Frontpage. This is not a STRICT requirement, as let's just say software I need seems to have a habit of finding its way to me wink.gif
-One that will allow people to give feedback, but not through email, you know?
-FREEEEEE!!!

That's about it really. I'll probably register a .tk domain after I finish the site and unleash the whole thing onto the world like a pack of ravenous dogs.

Cheers.

I'd be very careful anything you put out on the web is not protected as your intelectual property and anybody has the right to use and propergate and doesn't have to give you a penny. Also if you are successful and want to publish you will have no ability to copyright or 'own' your own work.

The only thing i'd suggest is if you personally email anone who you wish to read your stuff and detail a brief agreement on conditions.

your sole intelectual property and can't distribute or propergate with your permission, etc etc

They're right. And I don't know what the percentage is, but after putting so much of it on the web you don't get to claim you're selling first rights any more. If this web link is what I remember it being, you can post part of what you wrote and only those people to whom you give the link can respond (or also edit).

Why would you ask anyway? You can ask an agent or other professional, or join a writing group and have your fellow writers critique it. But random acts of criticism doesn't help at all.

I've come to believe that random acts of criticism were exactly what RHP forums were all about 🙄 😵 😀

If the butler didn't do it then I don't want to know.
