@wolfgang59 saidGood story but I could only get half way through the narrative due to the irritating arm-bouncing fidgetiness of the presenter.
Americans may have heard of the story already but it is AMAZING.
(Stop shouting Wolfie!)
And stop using exclamations so readily.

@divegeester saidYes - he is annoying but does produce some interesting stuff.

Two stories really.
1. How a dentist killed 98 Japanese soldiers while allowing his comrades to escape.
2. The 50 year quest to get his bravery recognised.
Both would make good films.

i came away with the impression the hero of the story was a fighter
who just happened to have a degree in dentistry
@wolfgang59
Any history of the Japanese soldiers who attacked? Were they totally defeated? This story just tells the heroism of one officer but what about the larger picture of that attack?
@sonhouse saidIt was towards the end of the war when Japan were losing and wanted to go

down fighting. The men who attacked knew they were going to die and were
expected to kill 10 Americans each. Obviously they didn't factor in the dentist.

That's why he wasn't awarded a medal straight away - someone misinterpreted
the Geneva Convention on medical staff using weapons. Interesting story.
@sonhouse saidWhy would you ask this?

@divegeester saidfolks crane their necks
Why would you ask this?
as they drive slowly past the wreck
fifteen cars and a concrete hauling lorry
some guy flying a drone, what the heck?
lookit that giant cement block
it fell right on that guy's head
his legs are still a-kickin
don't he know he's dead?
lots of blood and lots of gore
we the living are engrossed
even as we notice our fellow humans
are burnt like crispy toast
@divegeester
I just wondered if that was the end of the story or was there a counter attack or some such.
