I personally think all centeries suck equally. It all evens out eventually. Good comes with bad, and vice versa. Sometimes things seems better but it's probably just because you don't know what's going on in different places. Although this century does seem to be having some problems with tragedy. Good thing there's about 94 years left 🙂.

1970 isn't a century, you are describing a specific year. If you want the 70's or 1970 within the context of your question, you have to take the rest of the century and all its baggage.
Without passing judgement on the current century, I would think I would like 1450 Venice, 1600's Caribeann or Norman France.
