high rates vs low rates

So,it is here like everywhere else.Most higher rates don't like to play lower rates.I have noticed this phenomenon at all internet chess playing sites I visited.What's up with that?Are they scared?Don't they understand that when everybody only plays higher rates,no games will be played anymore!I just don't get it:-(

ps:I've only been here for a few days,so I'm still hoping it's a wrong impression.:-)

hi sirlosealot, welcome to the site. i would have to disagree with your observation. when i was a newcomer there were several much higher ranking players who accepted my challenges (lionel and capa come to mind) - but as you acknowledge in your profile - you are a much stronger player than your current 1200 rating, so may be you need to play some games to raise your rating before expecting the higher rated players to accept your challenges. or you can enter the tournaments. anyway, playing the top players is no fun at all (speaking from experience in my current games with bbarr and Mr Tebb 😉)

Oh!Don't get me wrong,redlentils,I'm not complaining.I'm here to play whoever wants to play me,regardless of rating.With a maximum of ten games at once though.The idea is to try out stuff and learn to look 'deeper' into the game.About playing the top players,at ICC I've played FM's,IM's and GM's.All resulted in severe beatings but every single game I had great fun.Maybe this says something about me?(<--read,I'm a masochist)😳

ps: I'm not really that good,just lucky from time to time 😉

Lionel, Bbarr, pradtf, and Feivel are some high-rated individuals who are not above some bottom-feeding against this chicken 😉. All of these games are most instructive, and the brutal mauling I get is mitigated by being able to observe their game, and just to chat.
