Well I'm back. There was an awful lot of walking to be done in Budapest, but the bonus of this was I got to take some seriously large amounts of photos. I even got up at 5:00 one morning to take photos of hero square at sunrise, I'll post them when they get developed next week. For now, here's a small selection of the arty black and white ones I took:

To be honest, the scanner I used isn't quite good enough so the photos lose something, especially the one of the waterfall, but thems tha breaks.

Originally posted by catfoodtimIt's a beautiful city, but you really have to delve into the heart of it to avoid paying through the nose. They're very tourist aware, and since the end of communism, they've been careering into the 21st centuary. Expect to see everything from McDonalds to 1890's architecture. I would reccomend it for definite, though if you're looking for a tourist friendly, all amenities kinda trip you need the money.
nice, Starrman. Looks a little like 1960s London for some reason.
i like the photo of the bridge.
would you recommend a visit? were flights pretty reasonable?
Flights are very reasonable.
Originally posted by catfoodtimI love Europe, there's so much culture out there, so many totally different places which are nothing like you expect. I would also reccomend Romania and Czech, though stay away from Prague in the summer. These days it's full of beer drinking moorons from the UK on stag nights or football match trips. Apologies to the rest of the world for these wasters, I even had to endure them in Budapest when Man United played there on the Wednesday. It's such a shame because Prague is beautiful and it has so much history and culture which these wrist-watches won't even bother to ever find out about.
its somewhere i wouldnt have thought of for a jaunt, but your photographs make it look appealing.
well, i will have to spend an afternoon looking into that, thanks.
EDIT: 'Wristwatches' is still a mod word? Come on!
Originally posted by catfoodtimI have no problem with that, seeing as I disagree with marriage anyway. Though if I was you, dawn in Hero square is perfect, no people, great scenery etc.
thanks lads. i'll check timeout now. easyjet look great, around 60-70 quid return a week before christmas, which might just come in handy to take the girlfriend for our anniversary.
would you say its a nice place to propose?
starrman i hold you responsible if i end up married or dumped ok 😉
Thanks for sharing, Liam, nice pictures! I agree that Budapest is well worth a visit. I don't remember it being expensive, but the prices may have changed a lot since I have been there (about 10 years ago), and I got most things for free anyway because I was playing a concert there. 😉
Edit: Seeing that you take black-and-white pictures, make sure you don't miss the black-and-white round of the photo comp!
