What ahistorical nonsense. It IS cultural identity, not a lack of it. It IS an ever present element of "Englishness". The British Empire, and its strong English element, which has been deliberately portrayed since Victorian times as being "lauded as the purveyors of manners and fair play", was in fact built on the back of absolutely ruthless soldiers and sailors with often peerless proclivities to visit violence upon its subjects, enemies and victims, all stage managed by upper middle class and upper class paymasters and functionaries who carefully peddled the glib twaddle about purveyors of manners and fair play and all that whatnot. 😀

It's an honest question. It is a widely held view, backed by documented
incidents, that English are prone to this kind of incidents, both in and out
sporting events. And I don't get it so, honestly, I am asking for different
views about the origin of such douchebaggery.

Care to chip in or not?
Widely held by whom? Backed by what documneted incidents?

Who are the "English"?
LOL
I'll leave the thought of "honesty" floating there, gently and freely, for
it to come back later to bite you in the rear.
Edit. Just because I like you, I'll drop you a couple of hints. Hooliganism's
first recorded incident is... *ahem* from England, and it was known, as early
as the 60s, as the "English Disease" *wink wink*

Oh don't be put off by Trev; he's Irish and they are all "douchebags" too, didn't you know? Yes, they are well documented for their incidents of terrorism.

My city voted for independence but those Anglophiles in Edinburgh aborted the mission. If you Muppets vote to leave the EU it will trigger another referendum then we can start chiselling along the border and float you out to mid Atlantic where you belong. CYA!
