About a year ago I found a plastic bag right on the spot where I wanted to park my car. Not knowing what was in it, i took the bag before I parked the car. In the bag were some groceries, kids toys, and other personal stuff ... but no address or number. I placed the bag IN my car and wrote my cellphone number on a piece of paper and placed it beside the bag ... half an hour later I received a phonecall from the owner who verified what was in the bag. When handing it over he asked if I wanted a reward because the kids toys inside were his kids favorites and they cried their eyes out after finding out the bag was missing.
I said that I didn't want a reward but a promise that whenever he would find something he would return it to the rightful owner without a reward.
I hope I have created a chainreaction 😏
I found a wallet (woman's wallet) full of cash on the road when I was about 12 years old and returned it just because it was the right thing to do.
I've returned money to the bank when I've been given too much in return for whatever reason.
I've told people things they didn't necessarily want to hear, but was the right thing to do (about a relationship).
Honesty is incredibly important.
I once stopped at a garage to get some gas for my car.
I told the dude to 'fill her up' and went into the shop to buy some cigarettes. I got the ciggies, walked out to my car, thanked the attendant and drove off without paying (he didn't notice it as well - weird).
While driving out the garage it hit me... I turned around and paid the dude - needless to say he was quite happy.
When I was still a teen working at a restaraunt, I looked at my time card at the end of the week and noticed that they had credited me for hours I did not actually work. It amounted to an extra $35 that I would have been paid, but I brought it to the manager's attention and she thanked me for being so honest.
