I am trying to get JBuilder 2008 (turbo version) to run for the first time so that I can start programming in java but cannot work out how to do this.
Does anyone here know how to run it for the first time (and explain it in plain English)? I tried asking at https://forums.codegear.com/forum.jspa?forumID=113 and other appropriate forums but didn’t get any really helpful responses so, out of pure desperation, I have posted it here!

This is what I have tried so far:

I downloaded it from: http://downloads.embarcadero.com/free/jbuilder
This downloaded the zip file called “Jbuilder2008r2.win32” onto my desktop.
I then right clicked it and clicked “extract all” and it successfully extracted all and created a folder called “Jbuilder2008r2.win32” on my desktop -so far so good.
But then I got stuck because I don’t know how to run it for the first time.

I just clicked every icon in the “Jbuilder2008r2.win32” folder to see what happens.

I clicked the blue round icon with a big letter J in it and which is called “install_windows” and it appeared to be doing something positive and I just kept clicking next and it eventually produce a folder called “JBuilder 2008 R2” directly on my C drive (i.e. C/JBuilder 2008 R2 )
So I then opened that folder and it shows many icons including a blue round icon with a big letter J in it and which is called “JBuilder“ and a square shaped icon called ”JBuilderc” but when I double-click either of these two icons nothing happens apart from something flashing on my screen with the words “JBuilder 2008 R2” at the top for about a tenth of a second before vanishing off the screen!

Any pointers to what I am missing would be very greatly appreciated 🙂

Don't know JBuilder, but I suggest setting you View options in explorer so that it shows all extensions (uncheck the hide known extensions option) before you do anything else, because just looking at icons is looking for trouble.
Working in Windows you will need to find an .exe file to run, somewhere in the program folder.
