Great game cribbage! Do you play?
I've always thought of it as a very English game.

Playing cards are no more than a thousand years old and the early games
were all "trick taking" games. (Hence the trump suit in the Tarot pack). So
cribbage would be more recent.

I learned to play cribbage about the same time I learned to play backgammon...I don’t suck at them like I do chess which I learned to play as a child.

Interesting information about cards and the game.

Five, probably the same five as Wolfgang.

The other three are so obscure that I've never heard of them.

I haven't learned Canasta or Cribbage.

Heck, I haven't even learned Bridge.

Yes, I'm a card game failure.

Backgammon is perfectly suited to an evening by the fire with a bottle of wine and your favorite someone.

Both Canasta and Crib are a lot of fun. ( I still play Crib )

I've never learned how to play Bridge as no one was around that knew how to play it. Some say it is complicated others say it is not hard to pick up.

Have you ever watched the Big Bang Theory?.... They made up their own rules and played 3 people could play. Even re-named the pieces....It is a comedy of course!

Well for Senet, Mehen and the Royal Game of Ur the rules are "a matter of conjecture". For the Royal game of Ur there is at least a very old set of rules. The other five I have played with different success.
