DARN!
I took my 1997 Firebird into the shop to have a couple of oil leaks fixed... The mechanic came out from under my car with oil all over his shirt! - Not a good sign... 🙁
He told me, "Mister, your car is leaking from every joint and seal possible! The rear main on the engine leaks, your oil pan leaks, the transmission leaks and the rear-end is shot! I wouldn't be doing you any favors by fixing all these leaks because within a year they'll be leaking again!"
Geez, only 140,000 miles on the car and already it leaks. 😕
Then he continued, "And somebody has driven this car really hard! Over obstacles that crushed the oil pan, banged up the rear-end, damaged the transmission. I suspect your son is a pretty reckless driver!"
A brief memory of when I had to out-run the cops flashed into my mind... and I had to tell the mechanic that I was the only person who drove the car.
He looked at me in amazement. Then he said, "I'd recommend dumping this car... or if you really, really like it you could buy a new engine, transmission and rear-end. Would cost around $9 Grand, but I see you've already replaced everything else recently, even the drive shaft, so tell us what you want to do?"
So I took the "Batmobile" (that's what my friends call it) into the shop to have everything replaced. Reminds me of being in a relationship with a gal who is getting older... would you dump her just because she's getting up there in her years!? Not me, I'm too sentimental. 😞
