How many zeros in a billion?

How many zeros in a billion?

General

"How many zeros in a billion?

The next time you hear a politician use the
word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about
whether you want the 'politicians' spending
YOUR tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,
but one advertising agency did a good job of
putting that figure into some perspective in
one of it's releases.

A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

A billion hours ago our ancestors were
living in the Stone Age.

A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain...

let's take a look at New Orleans ...

It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division.

Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D) is presently asking Congress for 250 BILLION DOLLARS to rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number...what does it mean?

Well... if you are one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman, and child)
you each get $516,528.

Or... if you have one of the 188,251 homes in
New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.

Or... if you are a family of four... your family gets $2,066,012.

Washington, D. C

and Mom stayed at home to raise the kids.

stop being an idiot.

250 billion for building up the whole infrastructure of a major city sounds dirt cheap. and regarding taxes, it's only a measly 800$ per capita. it's nothing. and it's a huge amount of work and pay for a nation that desperately needs it. as that's where all that money goes. the money is not evaporating into thin air, you build a city and pay for countless man-hours of construction.

also, it's the price you pay for not stopping polluting the atmosphere 20 years ago when consequences were established. suck it up.

An English billion (1,000,000,000,000)
or an American billion (1,000,000,000) ?

I was assuming 10^9 instead of the normal 10^12, talking about u.s. economy.

it's always confusing though. are they ever gonna learn the metric system? 🙂

I have little time for people who refuse to educate themselves on a topic. Little time, i say! I've studied, in length, The Broken Window Fallacy while working towards my Phd from DDS. The worm is just jealous of Granny's knowledge.

you've googled up a list of "logical fallacies", nothing more. however in the adult world you're actually required to display relevant independent thought to make your case. you get an F so far.
