Sorry. I'm better at reading than writing in english, and even reading is still hard to me...
I was wondering if the rating I get in TFC is representative. I mean, if I start playing FIDE tournaments, I'll get a rating too. It will be similar to the TFC ratings?
I think some players at TFC has a FIDE rating, or something like it. Is it similar to the TFC rating they have?
This is a difficult question to answer. It depends is the best I can say and here is why...
1. Here you have databases you can use and 3-21 days to think about a move. You do this in the comfort of your own home (or work) and you never see your opponent. No pressure and you have assistance if you want it. (Just no Chess Engines)
2. In tournaments you have a clock. You have a strange looking fellow sitting accross from you who grins every time you reach for a piece and keeps bumping the table when it's you turn to move. ie. PRESSURE. Usually the room is too cold or too hot and the water runs out after 15 minutes.
3. You play a lot more games here than you do in tournaments and you get more of a weighted average in your rating. We all have bad days here and make dumb moves (ok maybe not Tebb and Bbarr) but if you have a bad tournament it affects your rating more.
I have played 20 (or so) tournament games and have a rating of approx. 1140. Here I have played 500+ games with a rating of 1560. My tournament play was when I was new to chess and I haven't been in a major one for 2 years. I feel I play better than an 1140 player over the board but maybe not as good as a 1560 rated tournament player.
Just my thoughts.
