well, early on in this MLB season Jim Thome has the fans of Philadelphia wondering what happened to him. After a few years of suckhood and utter disappointment while playing in Citizens Bank Park he his now crushing the baseball in the windy city. Personaly I still favor the trade for Aaron Rowand. Ryan Howard is the future at first base not only for the Phillies but for baseball as a whole. Based on my past few years of watching the Mighty Casey (Thome) strikeout or not play due to his female crotch pain, i give these predictions:

Jim Thome will not play in over 100 games this season
Ryan Howard will play in over 130 games this season
Thome will not break 30 homeruns
Ryan Howard will hit over 40 homeruns

I'd bet that Ryan Howard will be overlooked and not named to the All-Star Game (which the voting has become a joke) and Jim Thome will be named to the All-Star Game, despite Howard's better numbers heading into the break in July.

- I like Jim Thome as a person and don't wish him harm and any bad luck. It just pi$$es me off that 2 weeks into the season peole are already starting to say we shouldn't have got rid of him. Don't forget his past few years of disappointment, it will happen again. And watch Ryan Howard, he is special to watch at the plate

I'm agreeing with the All Star balloting. It's no longer the best players; it's the most recognizable. Alex Rodriguez could die and still get voted the starter at the hot corner. It's a joke.

I was slightly off in my predictions. Currently Howard has played in 129 games and has 48 homers. Thome has played in a shocking 117 and hit 36 homers, he stays healthy when he is the DH. And Howard obviously was not overlooked in the All Star voting as you probably noticed in the homerun derby.

But the point is that I am extremely happy we have Howard now and not Thome 🙂
