Just sitting here wondering how bad it will be. They have mandatory evacuation for 350,000 residents so far here in Pinellas County, Florida. I'm fortunate to be in a non evacuation zone but still getting a little nervous. It is now a category 2 hurricane with wind up to 90 mph. They predict it to be a category 3 tomorrow before it hits us. It looks like the eye will go right over my area.
Hope to be still be here after it's over! 😳

We get them here on the coast of RI once in a while... tape the windows... nail up boards if you are bad... Electricity goes out... phones lost....
Next day we go to the beach and watch the huge waves after the storm dies down. That is always nice.
I also like to take a bike ride in the eye of the storm... always strange, very calming. Just don't go too far!
Good luck bud!

on base, my buddies and i always look at huuricanes as a reason to get off work and have a party. i hope all will be well for you and your family through this. last year for hurricane isabell we tied some sheets together and hopped on a skateboard. we got some massive air. i always got to scared once i started gettin up real high and let go.
good luck man.
Best of luck and take what steps you consider necessary for the safety of you and yours. Don't wait till the last minute to take care of things. I'm over 50 and have lived along the gulf coast my whole life so I've been through a few. Make sure you have plenty of water and fresh batteries for your radio...During Alicia which was a category 3 whose eye passed within 10 miles of my house, I was alone, power and phones were out...it's amazing how much I clung to that radio as a link with the rest of the world...it was reassuring to hear other people's voices.

Supplies....
Milk, Eggs, Bread, Batteries. Tinfoil optional....
Mix required supplies in a blender.
Use as needed during storm.
If you do have tinfoil... don't use much in the blend! You will need the rest to make your hat.

Wow, thanks everyone. I appreciate the well wishes and advise. I'm up way too late just thinking about it. My wife wishes I would just shut the computer off and come to bed. I will soon. I'm just waiting for the midnight report.
I just hope the thousands of people who are trying to get away stay safe. I'm fortunate to be living in a non evacuation zone.
Thanks again friends.

The storm will be intense, but may shift a little to the east. We'll still be hit here in Tampa Bay, but those below us may get some high storm surges. I feel bad for them and hope all turns out well.
Of course it may keep going north and hit us directly. Florida is a beautiful state, but we have our moments when it comes to weather.
Thanks again everyone.

It's now a category 4 hurricane with winds at 145 mph. They say it may go more east and hit Fort Myers, Florida but we will still get a lot of rain and high winds in the Tampa Bay area. I'm so sorry for those that are going to be affected by it. A lot of lives at stake and some serious property damage.
Of course, things could change here soon and it could continue heading north. No fun here in the Sunshime State.
