We need lots of trees, our connection with the past and the future. Some of them many hundred years old and even older. We need to see that life goes on in various forms.
"...There are some species of trees that have much longer life spans than most others. These include the Giant Redwood, which averages 1,250 years and can reach 2,200. The Giant Sequoia has an average life s ...[text shortened]... has an average span of 1,000 years but is capable of living for 3,500." (Life Span of Tree Species)
Last night I watched a fascinating documentary on the CBC's Nature of Things called, "What Trees Talk About". I had no idea how "smart" trees were. It's worth a look...well I think so anyway.

I have seen a very interesting BBC programme about trees. The actor Dame Judi Dench guided the viewers through the programme - My Passion for Trees. It's fascinating how trees communicate through their root systems. We humans are not as superior as we may think.

You are right, but some "humans" would disagree.

Trees have a clear advantage, they live longer and in a natural way - without complicating or messing things up.

They stand firmly with their roots in the ground, not going anywhere, just making their contribution in nature.
