i've anointed myself self-important
altho all my characters are flawed
i took a sling and nocked an arrow
and aimed it at my mothers-in-law

more than one! you might mock
it's true, i have had a slew
but my aim was kaput, i stabbed my own foot
i hobbled down the lane looking for a brew

playing with language isn't much fun
for i am limited to knowing but one
so i turned and returned and returned once more
to that sling that keeps slapping me
such a ungrateful, merciless whore

but i've sharpened more arrows
and quivered the lot
and i'll keep slinging those bolts
cuz that's all i got
