Yes! I have tasted them both and I live to tell the tale! welll.....barely!
I know I have eaten something similar before. definitely an aquired taste and definitely not something you take a big spoonful of. But, I trhink I may eat it again.

EDG, try Vegemite on toast with butter - spread it thinly so its taste isn't overpowering. also good on sandwiches, but again don't lay it on too thick until you get used to it.

PS: i've never tried it on cookies...

PPS: if you say Vegemite tastes better than Marmite, i'll be your friend for life...😀

Can someone please explain what vegemite and marmite are? I've seen all these posts on them and have no clue what they are. 😕

they are both dark-brown/blackish spreads made from yeast extract. Vegemite was developed in Australia and is very popular there. Kraft owns it now though. Marmite was developed in the UK i believe.

Poi is a light-colored gel that I think comes from ground up roots.

marmite is not that bad for you considering it contains a third of most B vitimins.

Incorrect. Marmite is a yeast based product and originally produced by Sanitarium, which is a New Zealand company ( 100% ) whilst Vegemite is a beef extract based spread, also originally manufactured by Sanatarium, NZ.

No skeeter, both are yeast based products.
Marmite was developed in Burton on Trent UK, which was a brewing town, and made from left-overs from the brewing industry. Vegemite was developed in Australia somewhat later . I've tasted both, I think marmite is somewhat saltier and tangier, but they're both pretty similar..best eaten on toast, spread to taste.
