Great, think I will sand done first, then paint. Its my home

Sounds good...I have a wooden door that is already painted white. Is it better to strip paint off then redo ? or just paint over ?
If the paint you're applying and the paint on the door are the same kind of paint (oil on oil , or acrylic on acrylic , etc) , then you can just paint over it . If the old paint is chipping off in spots , or dirty , then a light sanding prior to painting would be advised . If it's in really bad shape with lots of wood showing through and very bad chipping and spalling , then strip it chemically or with a heat stripping proceedure to bare wood , sand , prime and then paint .

I don't know what "snookers" is , but slipping out to the pub between coats sounds like great advise . Make sure to come back with a small jar of something , bag of tacks , roll of tape ; and comment to the wife how none of the stores seem to carry the "professional grade" materials to do the job right , and what hard work it is running all over town to find it .

Ah- a dagger through my heart- snooker is like pool, but a million times better! The world final is on today, MC, so get to a decent pub which has cable, and ask them to switch it on for you (and maybe explain the rules a bit). Then you'll be hooked!

Kudos on the tactics, though- I can see you speak from experience. Maybe a thread on suitable strategies for a peaceful life might be a good idea. We should share the knowledge...

Most of the 'pubs' around here would give you the deer in headlights look if you mentioned BBC , snookers , rug , etc . (I've been curious about cricket for years . But I have to buy the premium cable package which would triple my bill just to get occasional games !) Suffice it to say N E Colorado does not have a taste for the international that London , Paris or New York has .

I'm all for sharing knowledge with the bretheren , but it puts me between a rock and a hard place philosophically . No one told us . This is hard won experience which we've paid for in blood . Do we give this away out of empathy so the brothers don't go through the same hell we went through , or charge for it ?

I smell possibilities for a joint venture here .
