OTB refers to when you play on a real chess board, not on the net. When you face your opponent "over-the-board" and smell his/her bad breath and everything.

there might have been a typo where you read this.

To me it only makes sense if you attach a word to the end

OTB chess = real life face-to-face chess (and not via internet or mail or e-mail, ....).

he already know what OTB means. everyone knows it means over the board chess. his question is

WHAT is an OTB???

and that question makes no sense they way its written right now...

Here is how I read it:

1. He knows OTB means Over the Board.

2. Now that he knows that, he wants to know what Over the Board means.
