Yes. I want to say thanks. You have:
-made my life more boring by deleting the interesting posts.
-made my life more boring because the only subject people are talking about is why their posts got deleted.
-made me wonder if you just randomly click the "delete" button.
-nearly succeeded in making me stay out of the forums. Not because you have threatened to ban me, no, because it really gets on my nerves.
-made me wonder about the importance of the english language... why are intelligent, funny and witty posts deleted, while people with worse spelling and grammar than my dog can post all they want. Why?

So why do I say thanks, I hear you ask?
Easy. Because by acting in this unreasonable way, you are shortening the time I spend in the forums. Yes, you are actually forcing me to do my homework instead of clicking on the refresh-button over and over, in the hopes that someone might have posted something funny. Since the hopes of an entertaining post surviving this moderation flood have nearly reached 0, I just see no point in hanging around the forums.

Thank you, I'm sure my grades will improve lots.

Yay, another little 16 year old girl who thinks she's got everything figured out.

Good, go do your homework.

yea but she is right. shav's "beastiality" thread got deleted. it's all in good humour and i don't think there is anyone on the site who alerted it. i think that the mod's are getting out of control with the amount of posts they delete and what "they" find offensive.

i think it might be the right time to have a swop of moderators, because these ones seem to be taking their job and power a little too seriously.

It was alerted, and it was also erased by Russ... the guy who runs the site.

You guys can go use the forums at uchess if you like, they are unmoderated... Oh, wait... they were closed down.

Everyone wants to blame the mods, yet has no idea what happens. You speculate no one alerted it, well... you are wrong. Also, not long ago there was a huge fight about the mods, so in comes RoboMod. He does a crap job, but everyone seems to trust it over the humans.

Robo Mod sends no warnings, and does a crap job if you ask me. The other option is another little trick of Russ'... called shutting down the forums.

Would it be fair to all to post the current moderation rules/guidelines for all to see?

I don't know what Robmod will moderate, what a Human Mod will moderate on sight by default, or what evaluation takes place when a post is alerted for moderation.

This would help all users I reckon.

Apologies if already available - please point me in the right direction, not simply to the TOS though.

Edit - sense check.
P.s. Will post this in Site Ideas.

maybe because nobody has any way of knowing what happens? Come on, please tell us how the whole moderation thing works, how many alerts are needed and so on. If you are really as innocent as you claim, fine, I'll apologize. It may be crystal clear to you that you've done nothing wrong... I'm just observing what it looks like from outside the "inner circle" of mods.
If you want people not to put so much blame on the mods, I'd suggest you try for some transparency, so the people know what exactly it is you are doing.

now hold on phlab. it was erased by Russ...i accept that. its his site to do as he wishes and if he feels it needed to be deleted fair enough. but the things that are being deleted are just getting rediculous. i cant remember any off the top of my head but there are loads.

why do you suggest using forums that are closed down..that's not very sensible is it. i dont want to blame the mods but it is them that is causing annoyance amongst the users of the forums. silly little posts that dont harm anyone are being deleted. Robo mod believe deletes posts which contain profanities. which therefore means it is up to mods to delete posts which contain sensitive topics. correct? in which case i think we need to have some sort of list of what we can and cannot write or have a message in the thread explaining why a post was deleted.

IMHO i think that there should be a new set of mods for a while to see if the quality of moderation improves in the eyes of the users of the forums. otherwise there should be discussion amongst the mods as to wether a post should be deleted, or does this already happen?

I think it means "Before you even came to this site, that's what Russ did. He asked the people he trusted most on rhp (to moderate the forums) and they became the mods".

test....

Dang, I wrote a huge thing and it wouldn't post! Dang it.

My post about Uchess is that the unmoderated site became a mess and Russ had to shut it down. Forum Wars is unmoderated, that is where I go to do my real posting... anyone can come. That site can handle it since there are fewer users, and we all have a proper thick skin. When someone goes there and starts acting childish, everyone gives them a good bash if they are lucky, and just ignores them after that til they get bored and leave.

The RHP forums are moderated as we all know, both by the mods and by the auto-mod function. If you don't like it, don't post here. There will often be cases where what one person (or group) find funny, ather find unsuitable for a public forum board. As RHP must serve the sensibilities of all its users, there will be an inevitable shift towards lowest-denominator, i.e. "over-moderation" from one point of view, barely adequate from another.
So if the forums bore you Angie, play chess instead. Or post elsewhere. But quit whining please.
