@relentless-red saidThank you. We missed the last moves and Spassky applauding Fischer's winning move. I admire these players.

important events SHOULD be remembered
unfortunately, reality is rarely as poignant as portrayed in film
lol
can you imagine the players, audience, and viewers at home, chagrin if everyone could see the camera operator squatting right beside the table and videoing from a lower vantage angle?
the tiny beads of sweat, expertly applied by makeup artists during the pause in action?
the one totally unnecessary jerkwad (me) with a running commentary at the back of the auditorium?
i hope i've not ruined this tender moment for you, as the moment has been ruined for me, by my own observations

Just imagine the stress they feel in this situation, the focus they must have, the expectations from so many, all research they do for this occasion - it's beyond human to accomplish anything under such circumstances, and still they do. I love them for it. 🙂
@rookie54 saidSo then, what do you love?

But there is one technical chess-fly in the ointment: At 1:13 the announcer states that Fischer has "abandoned his trademark Sicilian Opening". But Fischer is playing White and the "Sicilian Defense" is denoted by 1. ...c5 by Black.
Something minor, but something that a quick GM consultation might have avoided.
@woofwoof saidHe played a Sicilian of sorts, 1.c4 is the English or Sicilian Attack lol
