I have just banned 39 users from the site. I am in the process of implementing some anti-cheat code, but thought it might be wise, given the high-profile this subject has attracted recently, to take some immediate action against clear-cut cases.
For the good of this site's chess playing community we cannot tolerate artificial rating manipulation. The ratings are provided as a guide to help players to find opponents of a strength that they choose.
I can see no reason why anyone would benefit from having an artificially high rating.
Where cases are clear-cut and beyond doubt we will take action against accounts without warning.
I do not expect it but there is always the possibility that a genuine mistake may be made. If any player feels that they, or any other player has been incorrectly treated, please raise the issue to myself or Russ.
Sorry for the interruption. 🙂
I found the best way to find oddities was to just click on the "Find Player" button - here you can see the players that don't quite fit into the Player Tables as you'd expect.
huththa123 500 56 56 0 0 Currently refusing games from players with a rating lower than 2500
pakaya123 500 71 21 50 0 Currently refusing games from players with a rating lower than 5000
nuwana123 p 500 15 0 15 0 Challenge player
nayana123 500 42 20 22 0 Currently refusing games from players with a rating lower than 9000
hukanna123 p 500 16 10 6 0 Currently refusing games from players with a rating lower than 2500
Presumably you've banned these - doesn't banning remove them entirely from the list of players?

I know what you did was hard for you, but most of us appreciate the great job you and Russ do on the site. You are obviously doing what you feel is best for everyone and I thank you for it.

Could you ask some of the people you are going to ban (in the future, if it's too late already) why they are cheating?
It baffles me. It's not like they're winning prize money or something, so what is the point? I really wanna know!
Cheap Thrills?

Ego boost.

BTW, Way to go Chrismo! There's no room for cheaters here...😀
