Just upgraded my comp, IE 8 installed, am going on to chrome or FF, but in the meantime, does anyone know how to install google as default search engine?
I know, get Linux. That's fine and all like that but does anyone know about that one issue? It ticks me off that in the search box, it gives Bing, Yahoo and other search engines but it is clearly a fight with google that they won't include google as one of the alternate search engines. I don't like being manipulated like that so does anyone know about this issue? In the alternate search area you have to type in the URL of the site you want to use, so I put in www.google.com which should be good enough. But the dam box says you have to include the word TEST in upper case in the URL. It seems MS is determined not to let you use Google and I am just as determined to thwart that monopolistic BS. Any help here?

Click the little arrow in the top right corner next to the magnifying glass, select "Find More Providers". Use the search box to find "Google", find the entry that says 'Search Provider' and hit the big orange Add button. In the pop-up, tick the box for using it as the default provider and click Add.

I did that before but missed the search box. That worked and google is up there now. Live search is listed as default but don't see a way to make google default. You know how to do that? Right click doesn't do it. Nevermind, I just figured it out. Manage search box did it. Thanks for the help!

So you get pissed off for simply asking for help in the general forum? I guess we are forbidden to ask questions then. Better to rot in ignorance than actually get caught asking for help, god forbid.
It seems to me the help forum is for help with the redhotpawn site not a general question and answer session.

Supported. This is the full name of the Help Forum, according to Russ:
