I am brand new to this site (been here a couple minutes). Does anyone have any pointers? Suggestions? Games? Is anyone willing to take me under their wing and become my friend?
This site lets you have 6 games at a time for non-paying members, and unlimited if you pay the small fee (paying members have that star thing). The easiest way to get a game going is to start one up under 'open invites' and see who comes along.
Have fun.
Originally posted by dylThank you. How much is the fee? I've been reading some of the forums and some people stars are deformed. Something must be wrong with my computer. Its like out of focus or something. And the tint is off a little. Some are yellow, some are orange, some are red! My computer is screwed up.

Originally posted by Chess FreakHaha, there is only fee if you buy a star...when you become a real 'pawn-star'! That's $ 14,99 for a whole year!!! Have you ever seen such great advertisement! About the stars: When you have wings you pay, when you don't you are an original-pawnstar...that means that you have contributed in the beginning of the site! When you have wings and a little shield, you are a subscribing-original-pawn-star (nice word) the colors stand for how many moves you have made...the darker the colour, the more moves!

The different tints signify a milestone passed in number of moves i believe, and any star without wings is one of the original members (think that's right).
The fee is around $15 US for a year, or $6 for a month if you want to try it out. Something i'll be investing in within the week now that i have a modest cash flow. Have a look here for more info http://www.timeforchess.com/vstat/subs.php.
You'll find 6 games are enough to get a feel of the site and decide whether it's worth the money.
Incidently, there is nothing wrong with playing on here for free if you find 6 games enough, or don't have a way of paying. But i think you'll find after playing here for a while that you will want to pay just to support the site.

How many people have a red star? So far, I've seen three. How do you get the orange?
