Where does Russ ever give my straight question a straight NO?
Instead he answers with waffle that skirts the direct question.

But the real worry is that even if Russ eventually says a straight NO, I already have a straight YES from a member of one of his teams.

Therefore even with my stunted intelligence I ...[text shortened]... is.
Pretty worrying either way me thinks

Since when did frogs grow brown tongues anyway

I'm not alone in this situation. Tons of us play from work under similar circumstances. Almost like "chess at work".

Don't really want to get involved in this but on a point of logic, the fact that it hasn't (can't) happen to you doesn't mean it hasn't (can't) happen to others. (Those who only use their home computer, e.g.)

That said, I am personally happy with the guarantees Russ _has_ been able to give.

Agreed that it is possible on home PC's, but what would really be the point in looking for them when cheaters could simply hide by playing from work?

You'd have to be as paranoid as Sir Ulrich to even bother.

Me too!

But besides that, Russ did answer the question.
He said: No software on this site inspects the processes running on your PC.
AND
He said: All personal information, including IP addresses, are private, and not available to anyone in the moderation teams (game and forum)

So the software doesn't do it and the team members can't because of lack of information.

Why don't you PM Russ and that team member about it instead of using the forum?

You were already told NO by gatecrasher.

'Cos he likes stirring the pot that is filled with you know what. Talks like a disgruntled former employee of the Vatican...

Can't really see the point of checking what's running on a users' computer anyway. Many people have two.

And what about the people who are running the RHP vs Fritz type threads over in the chess forum, they would have engines running while playing rhp most likely. And some people might run game analysis on a game they just finished and then make their moves on other games while that was running. Even if you knew someone had an engine running, that wouldn't be proof unless it was all the time.

You're on the money there, dumbass.

Russ's first post states NO.
Without his consent nothing like what you propose would be possible - even if one of the mods wanted to do it.
Also, this site does not install client software on any machine, so the answer to your question is NO.

Get it through your thick skull.

Bloody dolt.

Well it looks like you've caught him red-handed . I wouldn't take this if I were you . Best you should leave this trashy spam box of a site; it's obvious that it's not good enough for and has been a cruel ploy to spy on you surfing porn , er , making chess moves . I'm sure once other chess sites find you're at loose ends they'll be clamoring for you join theirs , which are probably better than rhp any how .

Even if they had the IP address.. it wouldn't help them reach most pcs running firewalls, or have routers.. they would reach the router only.. and with no inbound ports open on the routers, they can't reach the pcs. And.. even if they somehow.. found a loop hole, got through the router.. software firewalls would flag it.. I used to run a Instant Messaging Server through my router firewall, and got lots of hits from people trying to access my pc, and my firewall flagged/stopped them all.
But.. for those sites that have a client to download to your pc.. that would then be possible, because you would have already allowed the client access to the internet through your firewall with two way communication
