...I thought it only proper to talk about Ubuntu and linux in general. Well, not in general so much as
about Ubuntu. I've long wished for laptops to come with GNU/Linux pre-installed, and now, finally, I
just noticed Dell has that option.

I installed xubuntu on my wife's Compaq N410c Notebook, and she was amazed how easy that has been 😉

Maybe in the next 40 years the open source community can build something that gets close to MSOffice?
And just to pre-empt all you M$ bashers - no, neither StarOffice, nor OpenOffice will get close enough until they properly get Macros and VBA support down.

Why would you want it pre-installed? Surely half the fun of being a linux dork is spending hours trying to figure out how to do the simplest of tasks... and the other half of the fun involves hitting yourself over the head with a brick?

In fact preinstalled is the choice for people who want a decent free operating system and not become a dork 😉
