So, I had this great idea yesterday. Pop along to my local travel agent and see if I could get a cheap flight to somewhere I hadn't been to before....
... and 30 mins later come out of said travel agents with a return flight to New Delhi. 😲
After the thrill of the purchase, I have now come back down to earth and realised that aside from seeing the Taj Mahal, I have no idea what I should go and see.
So I hand this out to you guys. I have 11 days, where should I go?

Originally posted by Hindsteinyeah, huck is right, ask shavixmir, he can tell you a lot about prostitution and cheap alcohol and drugs there.

and don't forget a British flag, they love that you flag it in bars while drunk, singing 'God Save the Queen' 🙂
Now, seriously, congrats on the vacation, mate!
Originally posted by HindsteinUnfotunately, India's a damn big place, so unless you're flying it's going to be difficult to see a huge number of places. Never the less i'm sure it'll be a great trip. In that period of time you could maybe head over to Agra and the Taj Mahal before going across to Jaipur. Seem to recall that there's a national park somewhere in between, but don't remember what critters they have.
I already have the Rough Guide to India (thanks Mr Tickle) and it has been really useful. Unfortunately, it is all a bit overwhelming. Are there any recommendations?
Otherwise you could maybe do a quick loop around Rajasthan, which I'd probably favour. Might be a bit rushed if you do it on the train, but I met a delightful Dutch girl who'd hired a car and driver for 8/9 days to do exactly that. Though you would obviously miss out on the joys of Indian rail/bus travel, which would be a pity, as there is clearly nothing to match the joy of slowly suffocating in a box whose internal temperature and general odour compare unfavourably to the sulphurous depths of Hell, whilst your head is wedged in some objectionable blokes armpit as he tries to lure you into acts of fellatio.
All good fun, except the last bit...

If we have time, we might try to head down to Udaipur, but with only 10 days, it'll be pushing it a bit. I've heard alot about the Golden Triangle, and I presume that it is the area of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. Hope that it is easy enough to travel round in a short time.
I've heard that the trains are an experience, so looking forward to it already...
