It does great things to my guts, so, when I've eaten it, nobody within 50 meteres likes me!
I eat Marmite as often as I get an early night... π
Vitmain B - I will see what else has a good supply of that - Thanks π

Originally posted by rhbI can relate all too well. π I have always been a "night person", but lately it has been even worse than usual. The midnight sun doesn't help... π (In winter, I find other excuses, though...) Basically I have given up. I drag myself through the week with a growing sleep deficit, trying to stay awake at work, and then I try to catch up on sleep during the weekend, sleeping all day, then going to bed even later and having a bad start on Monday. It would be sooo nice to have a job where I could start working in the afternoon... I really enjoyed the time when I was writing my dissertation and studying for the exams. I could mostly live my own rhythm, and my most productive time was between midnight and 4 am. Ah, to be a student again...
Sleep cures everything.... except Insomnia.
My body clock is completely flipped. It's not fun.
Edit: BTW, it's 1:45 am here... I'd better go to bed...

Hey - get back here! You haven't moved in our games yet π

His name is Ron. Ron then tells me that he finally falls asleep a couple hours before the alarm goes off. So Ron is late for work 2-3 times a week... π
Then Ron falls asleep at work in his cubicle. Yeah, the guy sleeps at least 2-3 hours while at work! When he goes home he is refreshed and doesn't feel tired anymore. π
So then Ron can't go to sleep again... and the whole cycle just keeps repeating itself! π²
I can't give my friend any advice on how to correct his problem cause if I have the same kind of problem and go to work tired, I don't sleep at work. Hence I don't have any problems going to sleep when I get home.
So why is it that Ron continues to have this problem???

I am one of the lucky ones... I had cronic insomnia for around 6 months (about 5 years ago) I got on a maximun 2-3 hours of sleep a night... I would watch tv till 4:00am and hopefully sheer exhaustion would kick in and I would "go to sleep". I couldn`t switch my mind off, was horrible and yes you do hallucinate.
I can sympathise with Ron, I too slept at work tho I had my own office so I could close and lock the door. Can`t tell you how I beat it just happened, sleeping pills sometimes worked, the nights they didn`t were the worst.
I now get a lot of sleep, go to bed at around 11:00 and wake up at say 7:45.
so my sympathies

There are various stages of things you should try:
1. Eat a banana with warm milk before you go to bed. Stop drinking caffeine, alcohol and energy booster drinks after 7 pm at night
if this doesn't work:
2. Go to bed at the same time every night and get up at the same time every morning.
if this doesn't work:
3. Do steps one and two AND go for a 15 minute walk before you go to bed. Don't watch TV for at least 2 hours before you go to bed and read a few pages before you turn your light off.
4. If none of this helps, then you should go to the doctor. Why?
Insomnia is just one of many sleeping disorders which can be causing you to stay awake.
You could be suffering from Apneu, for example (your breathing stops whilst you're sleeping and that causes you to jolt awake).
I had two days of tests done (that's the photo in RHP faces with all the wires attached to me).
I have to go to a nose, ear and throat doctor (for breathing) and I have to go to sleep therapy to de-program my sleeping pattern and build up a new one.
Originally posted by shavixmirMan - that Apneu sounds bad. Hope the re-programming does the trick.

When I get really tired (I mean properly wired - asleep on feet stuff) I suffer bouts of sleep paralysis. It used to be shet sacry but now I am kinda used to is, I just lie there not breathing not being able to move but not panicking. It feels like it lasts for ages but I reckon it is over quite shortly. After something like this I am left feeling like I had no sleep whatsoever, which means the cycle continues.
I'm gonna party hard tonight and tomorrow (booze free Sunday though as I'm driving) and hopefully will be worn out enough to recover with a good kip on Monday night, having followed your tips of course ππ΄π
