Interesting, but strange.......

Interesting, but strange.......

General

* A pig's orgasm lasts for 30 minutes.

* A cockroach will live for 9 days without its head before it starves to death.

* The male praying mantis cannot copulate while its head is attached to its body. The female praying mantis initiates sex by ripping the male's head off.

Any other interesting facts?...

I learned this years ago.

Cat mating is rather painful.

The male cat's equipment has backward facing barbs or spines. There are 100-120 of these. Considerable discussion about the function of these spines has occurred, with the favoured theory being that spines ‘stimulate’ the female to ovulate – as the females are ‘induced ovulators.

Another reason cats make me want to vomit.

It amuses me that I tried to post the word "pee-NIS" and I got rejected.

I'm afraid that that one is a myth. They'll do that, but not always, and some researchers believe that it is more because the female sees an easy source of nutrients than for any other reason.

* Dolphins will not only engage in sex for pleasure (rare among animals other than humans), but have been known to make passes at humans. Nobody yet knows whether the latter is due to stress of repeated contact with humans or actually natural - but the former certainly is normal for them.

* Lemmings do not commit mass suicide under normal circumstances. Only Disney employees induce them to throw themselves off a cliff, but who wouldn't?
