when it says "connected, eject before disconnecting"
how do you disconnect it?

If iTunes doesn't give you the option to eject, go to your system tray and "safely eject hardware".

thanks dude... i got an ipod for the 1st time, then didnt know how to do this... so around 7 times unplugged it instead..

then it just turned off one time and it didnt work untill just now 3 days later... odd

If you have problems where it's unresponsive like that, you can reboot it by pressing and holding the Play/Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds.

on the itunes menu, under libary and itunes store, it should say "Ipod". to the right of that should be a little button for "ejecting"
