Stairway to Heaven is one of Zep's least favourite songs and surely both overplayed and overated. I agree the solo has been voted best solo of all time on numerous guitar magazine polls and I enjoy listening to it. However in terms of whether it ROCKSs or not, well, I have to say that songs like Trampled Underfoot and Dazed & Confused rank higher. Strangely enough Since I've Been Loving You has just come up on random play from my PC, another contender πŸ™‚

Now if you want a song that really ROCKS I would suggest Paranoid Android by Radiohead

Oh, come on! Great song, but does it rock more than the other songs mentioned, or even as much?

10 Songs that rock: Led Zeppelin 'Rock and Roll', Stones: 'Gimme Shelter', Sabbath :'Paranoid', Little Richard :'Good Golly Miss Molly', Troggs: 'Wild Thing', Them:'Gloria', Nirvana 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', Hendrix: 'Purple Haze', JJ Cale :'Cocaine', Cream: 'Sunshine of Your Love'...

I always thought of Kashmir when I thought of Zepplin. I'd vote for it as the song that truely exemplifies 'Zep.

Just a thought.

FB😏

Oh yeah, and Happy Thanksgiving to all of our US members!

I actually like "Fool in the Rain" by Zeppelin but the other songs were great to me when I was 12 years old. They are still not bad but I don't think they hold strong as they used to. Today, to me, most music is so horrible that I have to just listen to NPR to keep my sanity.
