I worked a night shift (as I often do..) from 2100 to 0830hrs, came home, ate my Steak & Kidney pie, 3 veg, 2 bottles of beer, 2 cans of Lager (I know I shouldn't mix my drinks..) & 2 glasses of Whiskey (I ain't got OCD..Really..) & then played Chess.
The postman knocked with a parcel, I had a glass of Whiskey in hand & he looked at me kinda strange..
"Bit early for that ain't it..?"
"Do I tell you how to ring doorbells..?"
"Sign here.."
"Thanks.."
& off he goes,
But unbeknown to me (no offence intended to any witnesses amongst our Bretheren) the Jehovahs witnesses were hiding in the bushes beside my house waiting to see if someone answered the door to the postman before wasting their energy knocking upon it..
So
"Knock Knock.."
"Hello.."
"Did you know that alcohol is a lower form of worship..?"
"Yes, Praise the Lord & Allah..Beautiful be his name.."
Door shuts, exit stage left to the computer to ask,
What is so wrong with me drinking at 1030hrs if I'm gonna sleep all day to get up at 2000hrs to eat Weetabix, drink 2 cups of tea then go to work for 12 hours..?
Well ?
OCD besides,
Well..?
Originally posted by GingerMingerNowt wrong with that whatsoever. It's just a case of having a different body clock, to people with 'normal' jobs. I have worked nights myself. My shifts were usually 5.30pm to 3.30am, so 'pub time' started in the early hours. Often I would arrive home shedded at 8 or 9 in the morning, especially at weekends. I must admit though, It did feel a bit eery sometimes, floating home at that time whilst watching people on their miserable way to work.

Some people may think drinking at that time a little strange and they weren't to know that you work nights I suppose. But to the Jehovas, drinking at all was a problem, regardless of time, you should have told them to **** right off or not even dignify them with a response. Who the hell do they think they are preaching on your doorstep, you should have followed them home, knocked on their door and asked them to give blood. What a bunch of sanctimonious _____s - I wish we could swear on these forums again, my vocabulary is distinctly lacking decent name calling skills.
Anyhoo, back to your original question, No, there's no problem with an early drink, it should be encouraged and praised. Alcohol is more neccessary now than it ever was, viva la booze!
Originally posted by GingerMingerWell I would presume that your postman and local Jehovah’s witnesses don't know you word a nightshift. If they assume you work regular hours then it is early to be drinking (I would say) but its fine if you have a nightshift and different sleep pattern. It would be strange if you had a drink before work. They just don't know so there perspective if different and so to them it seems early you could throw the word nightshift their way and they may understand or you could leave them to there ignorance. To them they assume the most obvious thing and that is that you are a drunkard and drink all day.

Does that imply its a good thing but just not quite as good as other forms of worship?

You should drink Coffee not tea. Tea is for sissies! And what the heck is a Weetabix?🙄
Well this is wikipedias input on the matter.
Weetabix is a wheat-based breakfast cereal produced by Weetabix Limited. It comes in the form of relatively large biscuits. These are similar to the Antipodean Weet-Bix; their generic counterparts are typically sold under the name "Wheat Biscuits". Variants include organic and Weetabix Minis (bite-sized) versions.
American tourists visiting the United Kingdom are often baffled by the sight of what appear to be thick crackers (and are referred to as biscuits), and many believe they can simply be eaten "as is". This is a misapprehension — Weetabix are typically served with milk in a bowl, as with any other breakfast cereal, and often with fruit (bananas, etc). They are very light and absorbent and when soaked in milk can take on the texture of a light porridge. However they retain a certain crunchiness for a while.
Weetabix are amazing is my veiw your missing out in the world of breakfast.

Why didn't you just drink at work? I am a neuro-surgeon and regularly imbibe some nice ether prior to an operation.
