A long time ago, there was a computer opponent you could play. But that has long since been removed due to the burden it put on the web server. And there are far better ways to play chess against a machine than playing through a web site.

why? are you looking to pit your program against someone elses? I'm sure there are sites that have people that do this, but not here I think.

i tried challenging the Chess Host once but it didnt work. Not surprisingly as it's profile says it doesnt play games but i tried it 4 the hell of it.
