No, it's not child abuse as long as the child wants to do it. In fact, he probably insists upon doing it, otherwise he likely wouldn't be that good. It's no different than a chess player of that age playing, as you say, at a 2200 level. I have met players at that age who can compete against 2000 level players and occasionally beat them. These kids insist upon playing and studying chess, and the violinist in the video is exactly like that. Music and chess are two of the very few fields in which you will meet such, dare I say, prodigues. I have come across several musicians like that. However, if you listen carefully to the video, you will see he still has a long way to go, as incredibly gifted as he is.
Of course. It was more a joke (about child abuse etc.). Some parents have the habit to push their children a bit too much, but it's not like that always.
I do not have problems with my instrument too, I played in elementary school programs for graduating on academy, with about an hour of practice daily (I wish I had that capacity with chess 😛). I never felt it was hard. I guess all of us have some talent hidding within.
I just wanted to show this clip, altough Bach's Ciaccona demands very high degree of maturity to play it the real way (I won't say right), this little boy is amazing talent ! 🙂

One of the most difficult and magnific classical music pieces ever written. It is like 10 years old chess player playing at 2200 level ?!
Ain't this child abuse?
What talent!! Thanks for posting it. 🙂
Originally posted by ivan2908The Bach D minor Channone (different spellings are sometimes used) is indeed an astounding piece, as are all of the Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin. I've heard the famous Chaconne played live on three or four occasions. Of course, we only heard part of it here, but it has always been a favourite of mine. Bach, as he does in so much of his music, surpasses everything that came before and outshines all that came after.
