Last Tuesday, my girlfriend found out she had a large growth of an undetermined nature on her ovaries. She had further tests done at U of M hospital on Thursday which indicated there was a good chance it might be cancerous. Ovarian cancer, if you don't know, has a very low survival rate. We subsequently celebrated Christmas with this sword of Damocles hanging over our heads. Today she went in for surgery. I am happy to report that the surgery went well and that the growth was benign. She does not have cancer after all. There has been much celebrating in Ann Arbor, Michigan tonight.

I can feel the relief here. It's obviously against my principles, but I'll crack open a bottle of wine and drink it for the two of you this evening.
