There is everything right in offering gg etc. But to expect it is a little large on www, and not across a game otb, which is always offered.

Believe that there is luck in chess! An opponent so luxurious in options can dearly make fatal mistakes. If you don't have belief in that then, in my humble opinion, you shouldn't be coaching! There are random chance ...[text shortened]... f playing and not winning is your goal, why would you coach losers?

Sad, but true...

It's funny I have never been much of a lol person - but I really did laugh out loud at this response.

Absolutely they had better play to win. If you are not playing to win - and playing aggressively and boldly - then why bother. Go play checkers with your kid sister.

I meant me. I come here to play strangers who I will never meet and really winning is secondary. Please don't tell my clan leaders.

Luck? OK maybe - I will ponder that one the next time someone falls into one of my simpleton two move tactics because they are moving too fast.

I'm the local chuckle artist in the GF, and hold no respect. Please don't get too attached to me, as I HAVE enough wives already. 😉

Some serious points, some not..... it's all www based at the end of the day. 🙂

Bring a game on....... I'll accept it and we can go from there.

No sexual game talk please, as my wife would do a Bobby on you 😀

I do not always say "Good luck" or some such (my most often other was "Thanks for the game" ), but I always did in tournaments or even clan matchups. Mostly because I figured I wouldn't even have these games were it not for them or my clan leader.

Something I NEVER fail to do however is compliment someone on a good move.

EDIT: I know, I know. There are good moves in all games. What I mean is the "lightning bolt from the sky"-"dang, I didn't see that" good move.

It's not always the winning, but the playing well.

Yes, it is true that "it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game".

Of course you should play to win, but if this is impossible, whether due to your screw up or the opponent is just too good, then one should learn to lose gracefully, since losing is something that, despite your best efforts, WILL happen again sometime. Chess is still a game, and as such, should be approached to have fun.

Now whether your opponent chooses to win gracefully is another story...

I and most use the word 'opponent'.

I wonder in this day and age of being PC whether or not we should change it to 'counter colleague'?? 😀
