@Very-Rusty saidYou and I once met in MacDonalds sir. You didn't know it was me, or that I put salt in your coffee.
@moonbus, I assume you aren't talking or judging about everyone and used Pondy as an example because you've actually met him in person. π

Not at all the only way you could do that is if you were serving behind the counter and your English accent would stand out like a sore thumb! π

@Very-Rusty saidI am the master of accents. On the occasion in question I spoke with a Texan drawl.

Methinks you do flatter yourself, that anyone here looks for your posts.
You despise me, don't you, Rick?
If I gave you any thought, I probably would.

That was quite a scene you linked to -- thank you for that. The deliveries in that interchange were quite something to behold and admire.

@Arkturos saidThe movie bears re-watching. It is full of fine scenes, fine lines, and splendid acting. Hollywood was churning these out weekly and the writers were literally re-writing scenes while they were filming; they did not know what the ending would be until they got to it. I'm pretty sure the last of the actors who were part of it have died by now, but several of them were themselves people who had escaped Nazi Germany or occupied countries and were happy to have roles in the film. For example, the girl who plays the French girlfriend had actually escaped occupied France. There was another film, Algiers, with Charles Boyer and Heddy Lamarr, which just didn't have the same je n'sais quoi of Casablanca.

PS Bogey really did play and enjoy chess.

@Arkturos saidI don't think you've ruined any of the forums, nor do I find your opinions here to be objectionable at all.
with my cosmocentripetal and perspicacious assertions which might have come off as reductive rather than succinct to some.
Well, sorry about that!
What I do think is you occasionally sabotage your game scores by resigning in positions where you could have fought on and possibly won, this is a lesson that took me a few years to learn as well. Your opponents were not masters and were prone to blunders like anyone else.
JMHO - Stop tinkering with your profile, try to rediscover your competitive spirit, fight on in difficult situations. Make your opponents earn their wins.
A comeback win is twice as sweet as a regular one. π

As for early resignations, if you have a look at my rating graph, the sudden downslides were usually just me rage-quitting the site because of some forum interactions (which I know was unsporting and unfair to the other players, who had nothing to do with the forum stuff). Working on that!
I agree with your conclusion. Of course one of my dream scenarios would be to blunder away my Queen but win anyway.
