I will review a very fine movie called "The Whale Rider. ...[text shortened]... ly gotsta tell ya I enjoyed dis here movie mo than dat Lord of da Rings crap dat came outta der.
I hope you don't mind me posting a little sidenote here, but it is something I think should be shared. While watching the oscars I saw a reporter talking to Keisha Castle-Hughes from the whale rider, and she said that she was hoping to meet Johnny Depp while she was there. Once they got inside, the reporter introduced the two. Johnny Depp looked at her and took her hand, and you know what he said? Johnny Depp whom I consider to be the greatest character actor of my generation, with scores of brialliant performances under his belt, to a girl who has just started her movie carreer, he said " I'm a big fan of your work" and then he kissed her hand. That my friends is an act of a pure gentleman, and something lost in these days of superstars, having great egos and very litle class.

Well Kirksey, that's the beauty of it, to my knowledge she has only been in one movie, and he having a full body of work under his belt, is what made it such a compliment. I was just so astounded by his generosity. She was thrilled just to meet one of her idols, but he mantained no air of superiority, and for that I admire him even more.

Also Keisha Castle-Hughes will be playing the queen of naboo in star wars ep 3

Hold yer horses! Don't let the Depp-loving bandwagon biff off into the distance without me. I thought his performance in "Benny & Joon" was nothing short of outstanding.

OK, today I am gonna review the current futuristic thrilla called "I, Robot" that stars Will Smith. Dis here is movie is sort of like, "Mens in Black" meets "Terminator" meets Bill Gates. It's a world where tha robots be all nice and helpful, but that wouldn't make a very good movie. Ya know somethangs gots ta go wrong. And of course, it's ole Will Smith playin tha angry brotha who knows all, sees all, and undastands all. Once again, white people wit all their brains, money, and robots don't know crap. He can't be in a movie dat don't have this here theme to it. Remember Independence Day. Remember Mens in Black.

But I'm gonna suprize ya wit dis here review. I don't care fo Will Smith, but this here be a good movie. Plenty of axtion and a predictable but interestin concept of robots becomin sentient beins. All ya Trekkies I think would luv it. OK, I gives ya somethang ta think about (As I always do in my reviews) fo this movie. Don't think robots. Think computers. Ooooh, the ole K-Dawg gettn ya scared now aint I? Well, don't worry too much cuz Will Smith single-handedly will save the white planet from all the evils dat tha white man perpetrates upon tha earth.

I'm gonna give dis here movie 3 and 1/2 stars. Woulda given it 4 stars but he rescues a cat in it. Have I told ya what I think of cats? OK, neva mind.

Still gots me mo to review as I survived dis damn hurricane, and while I be at it, thanks to all fo tha out-pourin of ya support ta me down here. I hopes ya can appreciate my foseetionist attitude. ;( Anyways I'm gonna review "Chicago" that stars Catherine Jones, Rene Zellwanger, Queen Latifah, and Richard Gere. Now, let me just start off by sayin a little somethang about Richard Gere. Womens have this image of mens and it starts with Leonardo Dicaprio and then they want Leonardo to age gracefully inta Hugh Grant and then they want Hugh Grant ta age inta Richard Gere, the worlds most famous Buddhist. So that's what ya dealin wit , mens.

Anyway, I generally don't like musicals, but this here is sort of a womens in prison movie so I cut it a little slack. Know what I'm sayin? Oh, while I be at it, we all know ya pick up a name in prison. Go ta www.prisonbitchname.com and see what yo's would be. Aint I gonna tell ya what mine was cuz I don't think anybodies be worse. But feel free ta share in dis thread what dat prison bitch name generator did fo ya.

OK, back to our movie. Very stylialized wit lots of sexy dancin and all and a nice plot. I very much liked Queen Latifah as tha queen motha warden. Let me jusst tell ya if ya aend up in prison and ya come across somebody like Queen Latifah......uh.........nevamind. I don't know where I wuz goin wit dat. But anyway, I give dis here movie 3 stars, but it coulda gotten 4 if Billy Bob Thorton had been in da Richard Gere role as Richard Gere isa lawya and ya already know what I think of Billy Bob.

While you're at it, have you considered writing an attire review kinda like Mr. Blackwell did? You could review how the presidential candidates are dressing, Michael Jackson, and the like. I'd kinda like a thread on that.

Hey cool! Reviews!!!!!

I-Robot

3.5 out of 5?
So, that would be a 7 out of 10...
mhmmmm.

I'd give the first half of I-robot 8.2 out of 10. The second half I'd give a 5 out of 10. So, that's a 6.6 out of 10 (3.3 out of 5). Actually not that much different than you.

The reason is: The second half was wasted by turning into a dull, format, action movie.
ACTUALLY...I'm gonna deduct one whole point from 10 (so .5 from 5) just because it could have been such a brilliant movie that it bugs me that some twat could do this to such a great concept.

5.6 out of 10.

Calender girls

I reckon a film about old ladies going nude could have been 10x more nude and 20x funnier. Especially considering the cast. Waste of time.

4 out of 10.

Kill Bill vol's I and II

Part one would get a 7 out of 10. It's violence is poetic and funny. It makes beheading look gleeful.
Part two however boosts part one up to a 8 out of 10. It's the complete opposite. And opposites attract. Well, maybe not, but with these two films they do.

Overal a 8 out of 10. Very good, not quite a resevoir dogs though and certainly no pulp fiction. Better than Jacky Browne though.

Love actually

Actually not. It's utter romatic tripe at its worst. Same old cast doing the same old roles. The only funny thing is the burnt out rock star. What a waste of Rickman. He must have been drugged to accept such nonsense.

2 out of 10. (just because the rockstar thing is actually VERY funny)

Fatal attraction

Yeah. So believable. Man not wanting to be sucked by beautiful woman??? Yeah. Like I said: "So believable."
There is one good lesson in the film though and that was the wife's response on hearing of her husbands behaviour. A very wise lesson in decorum!

3 out of 10.

A beautiful mind

Classic. A must see for anybody who likes movies. And a true story too!

9 out of 10

Castaway

The title isn't actually the title, it's the instruction on what to do with this complete waste of time.
Maybe my psychopathic hatred of Tom Hanks (who in my humble opinion has starred in three good films: The burbs, The green mile and The lady Killers) has tainted the whole concept for me, but my god...if ever anyone was out-starred by an innanemate object...this is the one.

1.5 out of 10.

The people vs. Larry Flynt

A strange subject, a strange life, but very amusing. Very good acting.

7.5 out of 10

Dawn of the dead

Say what? I'm afraid you can't judge zombie movies. You either like hack and slash or it bores you. Sort of a brain dead "Kill Bill"

Schindler's list

Taken from the book Schindler's arc. A very emotional film. I found it a pity they didn't show what Schindler turned into after WW2. (namely he went to Israel and lived off the guilt of those he had saved). It would have made the character far more 3-dimensional.

8.5 out of 10 (except if you choose it as a movie for a first date, then you really oughtta deduct a few points)

Oh brother, where art thou

Amusing Coen flick. I found the best thing about it the sound track. It had a few very funny moments and some of the characters are beyond classic. Probably Clooney's best gig to date.

7.5 out of 10

Monster ball

What on earth is up with Billy Bob? Love actually and this piece of crap?
This is basically the 'basic instinct movie' of this decade. And like basic instinct, the sex scenes are over-rated and the rest is rubbish.
Don't waste your time.

3 out of 10.

Casino

Goodfellas.
Exactly the same.

7 out of 10.
I would have given it 8 if they'd cut 30 to 40 minutes from the running time. There was too much spare space and wasted moments.
I'd have given it 9 out of 10 if Pesci had received another 20 minutes of pure and utter torture, wittisisms and blood shed.

Titanic

Better than I would have thought it would be. It did suffer from 2 serious flaws though.
1. I knew after the first 5 minutes how it would end (the boat would sink).
2. Romantic bull shit.

6 out of 10.

Chicago

Better than most of the crap we're buried in of late, but nothing compared to some of the great musicals that have been filmed (thinking: The rocky horror picture show, JC superstar, Grease and Crybaby here). Much better than Hair though...

7.5 out of 10.

Today I'm going to guest review a movie with a lighter tone, because I think humour should always be shared. The movie I speak of is "Vibes" starring Jeff Glodblum, Cyndi Lauper, Peter falk, adrian sands, an early bit by steve buscemi. Cyndi Lauper and Jeff Goldblum are psychics, (Sylvia pikle, and Nick Deezy) hired by Peter Falk in what they think is a search for his lost son, but is rather a search for a hidden ancient city that holds the most powerful psychic force on the planet. This movie has a very weak plot to be sure, but it's the rather unique dialogue between the characters, that makes me like it. This movie is filled with oneliners, and just great fun loving quips. Examples:
Nick : a woman tried to kill me
Sylvia : I'm surprised all women have'nt tried to kill you

dying friend:harry I slept with your wife
Harry : which one?
dying friend: both
Harry: well you're one up on me

Ingo svedlen: did you learn anything from your friend?
Nick : well he slept with Harry's wives
Harry : does everybody have to know?

I know these are totally out of context, but watch the movie, it's funny, you'll laugh. I give it 4 out of 5 stars for keeping a smile on my face, but missing a star because there's no plot. It's b-rated, but that's why I love it.

This review will be a little different tonight as it is in response to the "Sheep" thread in the debates forums. As I have said on several occasions, I have wanted these reviews to be about more than just the movie. I wanted them, even in their sometimes twisted way, to be about life.

OK, I want to review what I consider to be one of my personal favorites. "Never Cry Wolf". This is not your typical Disney movie. The story line is based upon a true story of a man who was asked to go to the Artic to study wolves and document their destruction of the caribou population. I believe the goal was to justify the killing off of wolves to protect the caribou. The lead character is flown to a very remote area of Alaska and dropped off. The sense of isolation and cold is overwhelming. Very well done.

But this movie is not just about wolves. It is about becoming a man, a warrior, whatever you want to call it, by facing what you are afraid of. The wolves are absolutely terrifying. But he learns something. The wolves are simply part of the ecosystem. Instead of ravaging the caribou, he finds they mostly eat mice and sick, diseased caribou. To prove his point, he decides to live like they do by eating a diet of mice. He begins to live side by side with these terrifying animals. He looks upon them with admiration and sympathy. He becomes a man transformed. The ending is very poignant as he sees how others have sold out and become rich by desires of conquering this land instead of learning from it.

This is a very quiet movie. No wham bam special effects. Just a beautifully filmed movie with a powerful message of becoming whole by facing your fears and honoring your truth.

Without a doubt 4 stars shining very brightly.

Today I will review what I consider is an excellent movie in the humor department. "Me, Myself, and Irene" starring Jim Carey and Rene Zellwanger is a movie that had me rollin. Carey plays a highway patrolman that just snaps in a funny kind of way. He's just a nice guy that everybody takes advantage of.......until. He's got him three illegitimate boys that just steal the show. They kinda remind me of someone but I just can't place it. Anyway childrens will love this movie as well as there be plenty of animals in it fo their entertainment. There's a cow, a dawg, a tarantula, and a cameo appearance by a chicken. You gotta see it ta believe it. Anyway take yo young chillins to see it and they will all thank ya fo an entertainin evenin. Let me know what yo kids think of it. Please post.

OK, what we ratin it? I give it 3 and 1/2 stars for creativity and use of animals in roles you don't often see. Ole Yellar should have been so lucky.
